Dalathian League

The Dalathian League is a collection of unified human city-states. It was established in 1450 by the King of Ryven, James Cromwell. It is named after the Dalath River which flows through the middle of human controlled territory and is the principle water source for much of humanity. Prior to this human city-states had done nothing but war and plot against each other with the weaker cities aligning themselves with the more powerful city-states. The three most prominent being Ryven, Maldura and Parmenides. Cromwell wanted more for the human race (Cromwell was a very humancentric person). So he summoned the leaders of Maldura and Parmenides, as well as a handful of other city-states, for talks of a unified human kingdom. Cromwell knew it would be hard to get every city-state on board with this so before the meeting he had already struck a deal with the kings of Maldura and Parmenides (a deal in which these top city-states would hold alot of power in the new kingdom) hoping the lesser states would follow. And some did, but there was a fair number of city-states that refused. And what followed is refered to as the Unification Wars. Cromwell headed a coalition force made up of all the city-states in the newly formed Dalathian League. They set out to force the other cities to assimilate into the League, both because Cromwell didnt want humanity to remained splintered and some of the cities had valuable resources in their sphere of control. The wars were beginning to take a toll on the League both monetarily and moral wise. So the wars ended in 1457 with only a couple city states remaining outside the Leagues control. Now with trade no longer being hindered by trade wars and actual wars between the city-states, humanity began to flourish. Goods and people began to flow freely between human cities.

The League is set up much like a parliament. Two Representatives are sent from each city-state. The head of the Parliament is rotated every 6 years between Ryven, Maldura, and Parmenides. Each city state must also contribute the same number of troops to the League army. some of the smaller cities often hire mercenaries if they can not spare the troops.
